Buttendz Grips recognized in “The Hockey News” (Aug 2014): … “next great thing!”

It’s been 3 months since Buttendz was recognized in the largest hockey publication in North America, The Hockey News, and the brand growth since then has been amazing.  Our first product, The Flux, was finalized in March 2014, and we were honored to be included in such a respected hockey outlet.  Each month, we continue to experience something new and exciting.  Meanwhile, we continue to do market research, collect customer feedback and work on new grip designs.

As we traveled to weekly youth hockey tournaments in Southern Ontario and the Northeast United States, we realized the need for this product was severely underestimated by both Rob and myself.  As an outsider to the hockey world, it only took a couple weekends to realize the commitment Hockey parents display towards their child’s career as an athlete.  That being said, do they really love having to tape their kid’s stick over and over again?…of course not.   These great parents are now  supporters of our product and new innovative brand.

Most youth players have simply accepted the lack of advancement in this area of their hockey stick, but suddenly have a look of awe when they feel the possibilities opened up by our product.  More and more, we recognize parents and players enjoying our company growth and looking forward to great new products to disrupt the hockey industry with in the coming months.

In addition to these tournaments and our loyal and amazing social media fan base, The Hockey News article in August has helped tremendously.  Brandon Prust of the Montreal Canadiens was gracious enough to offer a review of the product he has been using since we gave him a sample in December 2013, “The biggest difference I found was receiving passes.  They gave me a better all-around feel.  Hard passes that could possibly blow up on you, I found I was able to control a lot easier.”   Since August, numerous retailers, youth hockey organizations, and fans of the product have reached out to try out this amazing new product.   Along with an offseason reorder from the Montreal Canadiens, the Edmonton Oilers placed an order for Defenceman, Jeff Petry, along with the New Jersey Devils.

The brand is growing into a future player in the Hockey industry and we are extremely grateful to the Hockey News, the author of the article, Andrew Maggio, and the countless fans and loyal customers that help make it all possible.   Stay tuned for our 2nd design, The Twirl, coming soon!!
